Barbara McDonald
Barbara McDonald is an accomplished singer/songwriter from the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. She plays acoustic guitar and has performed since her college days. She caught the bug back in high school, however, when she won the talent portion at the Junior Miss Pageant with an original composition she sang. Barbara is a published poet and has received favorable reviews for her poetry and lyric-writing. She also has radio broadcasting experience from her college days and wrote and produced special radio shows related to the creative arts. "Knight of Dreams" (arranged on this album by John) was originally written during her freshman year. Married and blessed with two sons,for whom she had set aside her musical aspirations to bring them up, Barbara decided now they were nearly grown up that at this point in her life it was time to "go for it!" and follow her long-held dream of recording an album of original songs.With the help, creative vision and inspiration of her multi-talented partner John Perkins, this dream has now become a reality. Madmen & Lovers has sparked a lot of interest on both sides of the Atlantic, receiving airplay on BBC radio nationally in the UK and being chosen as pick of the day on WXPN on several occasions. |
During August 2000 Barbara, along with her partner JP, travelled to Nashville to record with Andrew Gold who produced a wonderful cut called Marie Elena for their new album, called Chasing The Sunset. This new cut is already getting radio airplay and has been 'pick of the day' on |

WINGS twice a # 1 at Soundclick.com and constantly on the AAA chart at the site. CITY OF LIES (Brat Pack Confidential) currently riding high on Power pop chart at Soundclick. Barbara & John joined the new indie/alternative label InterMet Records in 2001. Their future releases, including Chasing The Sunset (from which the above tracks come) will be on that label. |
